A detailed description of each trail’s difficulty level, hazards, and terrain type is made available on the Riders to Racers website, social media pages, and onsite at the event, both are easily accessible to participants. This helps each rider/ participant make informed decisions about which trails are appropriate for their skill level. Each rider will also have the opportunity during sign in to be introduced to the Event Host, Kirby Bailey, and ask any specific questions regarding the trails.

There may be moderate climbs and descents requiring a bit more control and maneuvering.

Loose rocks, moderate roots, and small logs on the trail.
Sharp turns and steeper slopes that may require braking and balance skills.
Some erosion or ruts that could destabilize less experienced riders.

Black Trail (Expert)

Expect steep climbs and descents that demand strong braking and handling skills.
Injury Risk is High for Inexperienced Riders
Potential Hazards:
Large rocks and boulders, tree roots, logs, and other natural obstacles that could cause loss of control if not approached carefully.
Slippery surfaces or loose dirt in some areas, particularly after rain, increase the risk of falls.
Narrow sections and drop-offs with little room for error.
Recommended Rider:
Only for expert riders who are very experienced with technical trails and challenging off-road conditions.
Riders should be equipped with full protective gear, and mechanical maintenance of bikes is essential due to the harsh terrain.
Signage for Merging Trails:
When trails merge, provide clear signage indicating the new trail difficulty level. For example:
“Blue Trail merging with Black Trail: Expert riders only.”
“Green Trail merges into Blue: Intermediate level terrain ahead.”
This helps ensure that riders are aware of the upcoming change in difficulty and can make informed decisions about whether to proceed or turn back.
